Mr. Edward Merrill "Ned" Denton, 81, died Friday, November 24, 2006 at Rosewood Manor. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Graveside services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Emily Fox officiating. Notes of sympathy may be sent towww.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Bourbon Kannon Denton and William C. Denton. He was a life-long member of Central Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and teacher of the Men's Bible Class for 52 years. Mr. Denton was inventory clerk for Union Carbide Corporation, retiring after 32 years employment. He also maintained a farm near Culleoka until 1998. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty June Andrews Denton of Columbia; daughters, Linda (Lyle) Holland of Helena, Alabama and Betty M. Webb of Columbia; son, Hal (Janet) Denton of Dallas, Texas; sister, Frances Denton Bowman of Columbia; four grandsons and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leland Denton and Billy Bob Denton. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Simmons and the staff at Rosewood Manor for their compassionate care. Active pallbearers are Keith Denton, Blake Denton, Sam Webb, Lyle Holland, Jimmy Andrews, and Johnny Andrews.
