Edward Steve Kennedy, 74, retired employee of Weather Tamer in Columbia and resident of Denham Avenue, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at VA Hospital in Nashville. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 26, 1943 in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of the late Jeff Kennedy and the late Mattie Seagraves. A graduate of Hay Long High School, Mr. Kennedy served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a former employee of Sarge's Cycles, Weather Tamer, Winning Moves, and Creekwood Factory Store. Survivors include his wife whom he married May 15, 1964, Nancy Carol Andrews Kennedy of Columbia; sons, James "Jamie" Kennedy (Felicia Patrick) and Jason Andrew Kennedy; grandchildren, Steven James "S. J." Kennedy, Tyler Andrew Kennedy, and Cali Shea Kennedy, all of Columbia; sister-in-law, Barbara Kilgore of Columbia; nephews, Thomas "T.J." Hill, Reggie Andrews, Preston Andrews; and special friends, Darryl Jones, Billy Winn, Craig Humphrey, Salo & Rosie Martinez, Jimmy Pruitt. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Christian Gage Kennedy and great uncle, Harvey Winford Seagraves.
