View Funeral Webcast Edward Lee Wells, 88, retired insurance agent for Transamerica and resident of Columbia, died Thursday December 12, 2019 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 21, 2019 at 2:30 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Len Carroll and Chaplain Lyndall Propst officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service at the fellowship hall. Entombment will be held in the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium. Born November 3, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Edward Earl Wells and the late Hazel Marie Jacobson Wells. On August 15, 1953, he married Betty Jean Hollmeyer Wells. After retiring from Transamerica, Mr. Wells worked at Pigg and Parsons Clothing Store for several years. Mr. Wells was very active in the Maury County Arts Guild and the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary. He enjoyed golfing and R.C. airplanes. Mr. Wells was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Hollmeyer Wells of Columbia, TN; daughters, Wendy Lee (Joe) Smotherman of Nashville, TN and Cynthia Jean Wells of Lewisville, TX; sons, Thomas Edward (Tharine) Wells of Flower Mound, TX, Timothy Alan (Peggie) Wells of Helotes, TX, and James Earl (Jeanette) Wells of Bartlett, IL; twelve grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
