Edwin E Allred

Mr. Edwin E. Allred, 83, retired millwright for Union Carbide Corporation and life-long farmer in Giles and Maury counties, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at his residence in the Culleoka Community. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Rush officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mooresville Baptist Church Building Fund, 1030 Bryant Cemetery Road, Lewisburg, 37091. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in the Bethel Community of Giles County, he was the son of the late Julius A. Allred and Alitha Edmondson Allred. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He attended Mooresville Baptist Church and was a member of Pleasant Grove Masonic Lodge and Bethel Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Wilkes Allred of Culleoka; sons, Eddie (Stephanie) Allred and Johnny (Lisa) Allred of Culleoka; grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Allred of Culleoka, Brent (Carmen) Allred of Columbia, Brooke Allred and Magen Allred of Culleoka; a great-granddaughter, Lilly Mae Allred of Culleoka. Active pallbearers are George Thomas, Charlie Ervin, Mike Wilkes, Dr. Jeff Revill, Richard Logsdon, Dwight Hines, John Rollins, and Terry Polly. Honorary pallbearers include Dale Craig, Dr. Thomas Dake, Dr. Mark Seago, Dr. Jon Freels, members of Pleasant Grove Masonic Lodge and men of Mooresville Baptist Church.
