Edwin Bush “Ed” Manning, Jr., 65, resident of Nashville, died peacefully in his sleep of apparent heart failure on February 23. He is survived by his wife and daughters, mother-in-law Eula Carroll, his sisters Judy Manning Auer and brother-in-law Jim, and Nancy Manning VanDevender and brother-in-law Pace. In addition to his immediate family, he will be deeply missed by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, and coworkers. Ed Manning, loved his family, history, music, Tennessee Mountains, and Vanderbilt baseball. He had an infectious sense of humor and was an inveterate punster, often laughing at his own jokes before others could. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 16, 1954, to Helen and Edwin Manning, Sr. He moved to Williamson County with his family in 1962 and became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. There, he graduated from Battle Ground Academy and went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University in 1976 with a major in economics. In 1991, he married the former Vicki Michelle Carroll, and together they had two daughters, Ann Carroll and Victoria. He spent his career in information technology, culminating as Manager of Data Solutions at Change Healthcare. Visitation for Mr. Manning will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Boulevard, Nashville, Tennessee 37205. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Dr. David George officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
