Eleanor Dale Jackson Hardison, 87, retired teacher and lifelong resident of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Life Care Center of Columbia. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 12:00 P.M. at Mt. Pleasant First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dwight Liles officiating. Inurnment will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Born August 23, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Collier Jackson, Jr. and Elizabeth Cecil Jackson. She was married to Allan Warren Hardison who preceded her in death July 5, 1984. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School, attended Randolph Macon Women's College, and earned her Master's plus 45 degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University. Education was not only her career but her passion as Mrs. Hardison taught school for over thirty years, spending many years at Hay Long Elementary School and Mt. Pleasant Elementary School. She was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed traveling. She was very active in community and civic affairs. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and several book clubs. Mrs. Hardison was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughter, Ceci Hardison (Michael) Williams of Columbia; son, Allan Warren (Michelle) Hardison, Jr. of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Elizabeth Jackson Thompson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Lillie Williams Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Elizabeth Williams (Rod) Slaughter of Charlotte, North Carolina; Michael Delwin (Sarah) Williams, Jr. of Spring Hill; Cameron Allan Hardison and Hannah Claire Hardison, both of Denver, Colorado; great grandchildren, Edward Collier Williams, Amelia Evelyn Slaughter, Lillian Claire Williams, Ian William Slaughter, Olivia Lane Williams; several nieces, nephews, and her beloved Bichon Frise, Beauregard. She was preceded in death by a brother, Rufus Collier "Buck" Jackson, IV.
