Eleanor June Ryburn Montgomery, 89, former longtime resident of Columbia, died Friday, June 14, 2019 at The Reserve at Spring Hill. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Born October 24, 1929 in Poteau, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late John S. Ryburn and the late Birdie Mae Musick Ryburn. She was a graduate of Welch High School in Welch, Oklahoma and then went on to earn her Bachelors in Science at Oklahoma State University. On April 1, 1953, she married Thomas J. Montgomery who preceded her in death on June 29, 1990. She was a retired Supervisor from the Department of Human Services after working fifteen years in Child Protective Services. She was a member of First Family Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school classes. She is survived by her son, Thomas Mark Montgomery of Troy, MI; daughter, Carla Faye Montgomery (Bud) Matto of Franklin, TN; son-in-law, David Anglin and his wife Shirley of Loudon, TN; grandchildren, Sarah Anglin (Tim) Gillham, Katherine Anglin (Daniel) McAdams, Benjamin Thomas Matto, Matthew Allen Matto; great grandson, Zachary Owen Gillham; brother-in-law, John Gordon; nephews, John Kesler, Keith Kesler, Kevin Kesler, Kent Kesler; niece, Brenda Thompson; many additional family members including, Mary Gass, Renee and Dennis Duke, Steven and Cindy Montgomery, Brian and Leigh Ann Montgomery. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Ann Montgomery Anglin in 2012; sisters, Marilyn Gordon and Jeane Cornelius. Active pallbearers will be the deacons of First Family Baptist Church and her grandsons.
