Elizabeth Ann “Bette” Burnett Cole

Elizabeth Ann “Bette” Burnett Cole, 83, retired bus driver for the Maury County School System and longtime resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.  Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Born June 18, 1936 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Monroe Burnett and the late Elizabeth Gordon Burnett. She was a former Ms. Maury County and played in the marching band for Mr. Hewgley at Columbia Central High School. Ms. Cole was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughters; Elizabeth Gay (Dennis) Anderson of Columbia, TN and Joni O’Neil Henderson of Amarillo, TX; son, Edward (Denise) O’Neil Henderson, Jr. of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Margaret Elizabeth Anderson and Edward O’Neil (Chelsea) Henderson III; and great grandchild, Harper Ivy Henderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Burnett, Jr.; and sister, Helen Gallagher.
