Elizabeth May Doss Pruitt

Elizabeth May Doss Pruitt, 61, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at her residence on Enterprise Road in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Gary Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 11, 1954 in Delaware County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Clayton L. Doss and Zinnie Padgett Doss. She married Walter E. "Pete" Pruitt, Jr. who preceded her in death July 25, 1994. From 1990-2007 she worked for Johnson's Control in Lewisburg and more recently for Resource Label. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, and taking care of others. Mrs. Pruitt was a loving mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a member of Mooresville Pike Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Alice Renee (Bart) Anderson of Columbia; step-daughter, Sherry Lynn (Roy) Dugger of Culleoka; step-son, Billy Keith Pruitt of Columbia; grandson, Lincoln Bart Anderson; step-grandson, Cody Shane Dugger; brother, Lonzo Daily Doss of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lanzo Bailey Doss; step-granddaughter, Michelle Dawn Dugger; and special friend, Steve R. Davis. Active pallbearers will be Billy Pruitt, Cody Dugger, Hank Davis, Brian Davis, Robert Workman, Jeffery Davis, and Stacey Anderson. The family would like to express a special thanks to Susan Davis for always being there and giving Mrs. Pruitt the love and support like a sister.
