Ella Mae Brown Sanders, 80, homemaker and resident of Columbia, died Thursday, March 24, 2022 at NHC Maury Regional. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Norton and Reverend Steven Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Born December 9, 1941 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar L. Brown and the late Eula Jewell Harrison Brown. Mrs. Sanders was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Group, and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and working in her yard and garden. Survivors include her husband, whom she married, May 9, 1962, Charles Sanders of Columbia; children, John (Monica) Sanders, Mary (Joel) Murphy, Daniel (Melissa) Sanders; grandchildren, Kasin (Huyen) Sanders, Morgan (Cody) Tittle, Macy Sanders, Margaret Sanders, Mac Sanders, Charlie Murphy, Molly Murphy, Ben Murphy, Scott (Bailey) Sanders, Alex Sanders (Sara Kilpatrick), Kate Sanders; five great grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Ron) Truelove; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Clark Sanders; sister, Elizabeth Pauline Vantrease; and brother, J. E. Brown. Active pallbearers will be Mac Sanders, Charlie Murphy, Ben Murphy, Scott Sanders, Alex Sanders, Travis Brown, Rob Vantrease, Matt Foster, and Ryan DuBois. Honorary pallbearers include American Legion Post 19 Auxiliary and members of Riverside United Methodist Church.
