View Funeral WebcastMrs. Ella Kathryn Waynick Woolfolk, 92, retired teacher, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Life Care Center. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 - 8:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Madison County with Rev. Harold Montgomery and Rev. Lou Kizer officiating. Burial will be in Browns Cemetery in Madison County. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to Lambuth University, 705 Lambuth Boulevard, Jackson, TN 38301. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Madison County native was the daughter of the late Charles Pearl Waynick and Lilla Adele Goodrich Waynick. On November 24, 1938, she married William Woolfolk who preceded her in death in 1996. She was a graduate of Spring Creek High School and earned her Bachelors Degree at Lambuth University and her Masters Degree at University of Memphis. In her many years as teacher, librarian, and counselor, Mrs. Woolfolk had worked throughout Madison County, including Browns High School, Mercer High School, Beech Bluff High School, and North Side High School. She was a member of Tennessee Education Association and a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Gary Woolfolk of Nashville; John (Pat) Woolfolk of Columbia; Robert (Nancy) Woolfolk of Murfreesboro; one brother, Polk Waynick of Jackson; five grandchildren, Scott (Cher) Woolfolk, Amy (Jeff) Adkerson, Matt Woolfolk, Megan Woolfolk, and Shannon Woolfolk; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steve Waynick, Danny Waynick, Ronald Smith, David Pearson, Jim Upchurch, Tommy Kilzer, Billy Donnell, and Joe Wright.
