Ellis Youngblood, 80, retired chemist and assistant plant manager for Stauffer Chemical Company, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Life Care of Columbia. Cryptside services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Georgina Bearden officiating. Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 will provide military honors. Memorials may be made to the Mynders Volunteer Fire Department, 4227 Moore Lane, Culleoka 38451. He was a graduate of Southwestern University and served in the U. S. Air Force. Survivors include sons, Terry (Diane) Youngblood of Culleoka and Steven K. (Lynn) Youngblood of Lebanon; brother, James F. (Tag) Youngblood of Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, Michael (Emily Vuncannon) Youngblood, Melissa Youngblood, Mallory Youngblood, all of Columbia, Lauren (John) Thompson and Avery of Chattanooga, and Kristin (Chris) Stirling of Nashville; great-grandchild, Alexander Clayton Stirling of Nashville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Altha M. Brown Youngblood in 1998; sisters, Mari Dell Dudley and Dorothy Brandenburg; brothers, Ralph Youngblood, Jr. and William Youngblood. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Maury Regional Medical Center EMS, caregivers at Life Care and Maury Regional Medical Center; and members of Mynders Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department.
