MR. ELMER R. JOHNSON Mr. Elmer Rhea Johnson, 65, retired chemical engineer with Rhone-Polenc Corporation in Mt. Pleasant and a resident of Stonewall Road, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Graymere Church of Christ with Wendell Robinson and John Vaughan officiating.Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. He was a native of Floyd, Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, of 43 years, Janice Vanover Johnson of Columbia; two sons, Gary Johnson of Culleoka and Jeff (Gail) Johnson of Murfreesboro; a grandson, Josua Johnson of Murfreesboro; his parents, Malgia Hopkins Johnson and Curtis B. Johnson of Johnson City; a sister, Charlotte (Max) Carter of Oakton, Virginia; a brother, Ken (Adine) Johnson of Miami, Florida. Active pallbearers are Carl Boshers, Jr., Steve McEwen, Tommy McEwen, Billy Brooks, Jim Baker and Jimmy Fann. Employees of Rhone-Polenc Corporation are honorary pallbearers.
