Mrs. Elsie Black Fitzgerald, 83, retired from Genesco in Lewisburg and former long-time resident of Newt Hood Road in the Bear Creek Community, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Life Care of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Jeremy Butt officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Thomas Sidney Black and Minnie Pearl Rummage Black. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Wilmouth (Wayne) Barron of Sheffield, Illinois and Juanita (Jim) Riddle of Columbia; two sons, Roy Dennis Fitzgerald and Dorris Vance Fitzgerald, both of Columbia; three sisters, Mary Ellen Hutcherson of Santa Fe, Oma Louise Wright of Jackson, Mississippi, and Susie Elizabeth Jamison of Pulaski; six grandchildren, Juanita Christine Barron, Patricia (Wayne) Wilks, Gwendolyn (Troy) Johnson, Katherine Huffman, Jennifer (Chris) Patterson, and Vickie (David) Alexander; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Zelphia Pogue, Bertha Mae Derryberry, Laminza Derryberry, Jenny Lee Harwell, and Sarah Ann Dooley; four brothers, Wilburn Howard Black, Roy James Black, Harlan Porter Black, and William Chesley Black; and two grandchildren, Tammy Cousie Barron and John Wayne Barron. Active pallbearers are Junior Clifton, Dwayne Strickland, David Alexander, Chris Patterson, Roger Fitzgerald, Porter Black, and Eddie Bobo. Honorary pallbearers include Staff of Life Care of Columbia, Dr. Gaylon Harris, Dr. Andrew Sisk, Dr. Timothy Gordon, friends at Fraser's Place, and Red Hat Ladies at Life Care of Columbia.
