Mrs. Elsie Lee Baker Taylor, 83, died Monday, November 7, 2005 at her residence on Beechcroft Road in Spring Hill. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Craft Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, 907 Hatcher Lane, Columbia 38401 or Hospice of the Highland Rim, 2014 Elmer Pogue Drive, Columbia 38401. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Samuel Houston Baker and Rosa Anna Lucinda Beard Baker and a 1940 graduate of Santa Fe High School. Mrs. Taylor was a long-time member and active in the affairs of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning goods for her family and friends. She was the widow of Charles W. Taylor whom she married September 5, 1941. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Lee Clayborne of Columbia, Glenda and Jerry Marshall of Franklin, Julie and David Thompson of Spring Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Barrie Taylor of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Jason (Becky) Clayborne, Amy Clayborne, Mark (Missy) Taylor, Whisey Taylor, Ben Taylor, all of Columbia; Cara (Michael) Skaggs, Ryan E. (Beth) Crumley, Liza Thompson and Tori Thompson, all of Spring Hill; Scott (Jennifer) Marshall of Brentwood; three great-grandchildren, Reagan Clayborne, and Anderson Clayborne, both of Columbia; Payne Marshall of Brentwood; a sister, Helen Perry of Columbia; a brother, Carl (Alberta) Baker of Williamsport. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Alan Taylor; two sisters, Alice Lane of Murfreesboro and Eunice Hahn of Nashville and two brothers, B. Ray Baker and William Clyde Baker of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Eddie Hahn, Jeffrey Hahn, Glenn Perry, Bill Freeman, Charles Bills, John McEntyre, Charles Raines and Michael Shouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Mattie McEntyre, Arthur & Janet Shouse, Ulna & Lena Fox, Betty Parham, Burton & Gladys Woody, Allen Woody, Mike Thurman, Ocial Sharpton, George Horne, nieces and nephews, staff of NHC Place at Cool Springs, and special thanks to Hospice of Highland Rim.
