Errol Dean O'Field, 66, retired clerk for Smelter Service, died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at his residence on Chapman Lane. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.at Rose Hill Cemetery with Raymond O'Field officiating. Military honors at graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. The Clarksburg, West Virginia native was the son of the late Harry Ray O'Field and Alice McClung O'Field Whitaker and attended schools in West Virginia and was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Helga Wieland O'Field of Columbia; a daughter, Regina Andrews of Columbia; two sons, Errol D. O'Field, Jr. of Columbia and Raymond (Lori) O'Field of Santa Fe; a sister, Marlene Bedker of Columbia; a brother, James (Mary Liz) O'Field of Chesapeake, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Scott Andrews, Steven Andrews, Matthew O'Field, Candace Humphrey, Daniel O'Field, Robby O'Field, and Joseph O'Field; a great-grandchild, Case O'Field; several nieces and nephews. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
