Jennie Estelle Nesbitt Wright, 87, retired chief operator with South Central Bell and resident of Fleming St., died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 11a.m. - 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The Hardin County native was the daughter of the late Claude Nesbitt and Anna Gertrude Baxter Nesbitt. She was a graduate of Hardin County High School. She was married to Cecil E. Ussery who died in 1943 during World War II. Ms. Wright was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Following her retirement from South Central Bell she pursued hobbies of gardening and sewing. She sewed draperies for many friends in this area. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" (Ron) Allison of Cookeville; one grandson, Stephen Short of Manhattan, New York; four sisters-in-law, Vivian Nesbitt of Savannah, Norel McDonald, Kathleen Davis both of Columbia, Dorothy Biggs of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother-in-law, Ralph (Clariece) Ussery of Columbia; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Jimmy Smith, David Smith, Charlie Nesbitt, Jim Nesbitt, Tony Lee, Billy Lee and Donald Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph and Clariece Ussery, Oscar and Judy Bradford, Robert Hughes, Reba Stevenson, Mike Brown and Dr. Thomas Dake.
