MRS. ETHEL PAUL CHUMLEY Mrs. Ethel Paul Chumley, 82, retired waitress and homemaker and former long-time resident of Columbia, died Saturday, October 19, 2002 in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Ron Paul officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Arthur L. Paul and Vera Smith Paul. She was a long-time member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. She was married in 1949 to Robert Alfred Chumley, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1974. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and William Stafford of Nashville; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Claire Chumley of Nashville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion and Lorene Paul and Donald and Carolyn Paul of Columbia, Gerald and Joyce Paul of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Michael and Lee Stafford, Joshua Chumley, Jacob Chumley, Robert Stafford, Valerie Kenner, all of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Tyler Stafford and Myracle Stafford of Nashville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Constance Messick, Irene Lovell and Marjorie McVicker and a brother, Ronald Paul. Active pallbearers are Michael Stafford, Joshua Chumley, Jacob Chumley, Robert Stafford, Ray Messick, Larry Paul, Randy Messick, Roy Lee Fogg. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Fogg, Tim Paul, Joey Paul, Mike Paul, Steve Paul, Robbie McVicker.
