View Funeral WebcastEvalyn Laverne Holland Alexander, 88, retired sitter for the elderly and resident of Sheddan Drive, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Norton officiating. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lawrence County native was the daughter of the late Edgar Lee Holland and the late Zelia Jane Washburn Holland. She was married to Milton Claybon Alexander who preceded her in death August 3, 1989. She was a graduate of Lawrence County High School and earned her Associates in Liberal Arts from Martin Methodist College. Mrs. Alexander was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Tim) Wilkey of Mascot; sons, Ralph (Kristin) Alexander of Columbia; Loyd (Susan) Alexander of Spring Hill; Delores Alexander of Columbia; sister, Jane Berry of Lawrenceburg; grandchildren, Jerie Alexander (LeAnne), Jeremy Alexander, Bill (Amanda) Wilkey, Clay (Emily) Wilkey, Jenna (Ben) Avery, Lindsey Stanfill, Gabby Stepanick, Christopher Stepanick, Lisa Gibbs, Kevin Alexander, Darren Alexander; great grandchildren, Luke, Landon, Tate, Sadie, Emmett, Fisher, Jasper, Will; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Alexander; and brother, Warren Holland. Family will serve as pallbearers.
