Mrs. Evelyn Nance Walker Church, 82, homemaker, resident of NHC Columbia and former resident of Sharon Circle, died Monday, November 27, 2006, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Kelley and Rev. Thomas Vann officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. She was married to Ruben Leon Church who preceded her in death on September 18, 2005. She was a 1942 graduate of Columbia Central High School and graduated from Columbia Business College. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda (Jack) Butler of Columbia; one stepson, Terry Leon (Cheryl) Church of Columbia; one sister, Bertha Adkisson of Columbia; one brother, Harry (Martha) Walker of Winchester; two grandchildren, Jan (Phil) Sutherland of Columbia; Reed Butler of Spring Hill; three great grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Sutherland, Lane Butler Sutherland, and Luke Walker Sutherland, all of Columbia; step granddaughter, Michelle (Chris) Leonard; step great grandchildren, Chelsea Leonard, Ashley Leonard, and Jonathan Leonard; and loving sister-in-law and caregiver, Ann Church of Columbia. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Wagoner, Elizabeth Clark, Helen Overstreet, Bobbie Jean Walker, and three brothers, Paul Walker, J. P. Walker, and William Walker. Pallbearers will be Dennis Overstreet, Roger Overstreet, Michael Overstreet, Dodd Church, Derek Church, Darrin Church, Skeeter Walker, Jerry Walker, and Jeff Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of NHC Columbia, nurses of Third West at Maury Regional Hospital, Dr. Steve Simmons, and Bobby Walker.
