Evelyn Holt Flippin

Ms. Evelyn Holt Flippin, 58, resident of Dogwood Drive, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Bellafant officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12 noon until time of service at the funeral home. A native of Maury County she was the daughter of the late Pauline Cheatham Holt. She was a 1968 graduate of Carver Smith High School and was formerly employed by Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing as an Inspector. She loved sewing, reading and canning fruits and vegetables. Mrs. Flippin was a member of Bellafant Tabernacle Church. Survivors include two daughters, Sonia Flippin and Rhonda Nicole Flippin both of Columbia; a sister, Shirley Holt of Columbia; two brothers, Harold Wayne Holt of Columbia, Bobby Lane Holt of San Diego, California; four grandchildren, Brittney Nicole Hannah, Cody DéVarious Jackson, Lauren Elizabeth Taylor Jackson, Ashlyn Rose Hannah all of Columbia; former husband, Oren Flippin of Columbia; an uncle, J.B. Stone of Columbia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jean Holt and Wanda Faye Mace and two brothers, William Russell Holt and James Marvin Holt, Sr. Her nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Nieces will serve as flower bearers.
