EWELL CRIGGER, SR. Mr. Ewell "Bowser" Crigger, Sr., 67, resident of Scribners Mill Road in Culleoka, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakes & Funeral Home with Ricky Clay and Wayne Lovett officiating. Burial will be in Scribners Mill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday before time of service at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Marvin Preston and Lula Bell Reed Crigger. Mr. Crigger retired from Columbia Midstate Distributing Company in November 1992 after 28 years with the company. He was a member of the Church of Christ and had attended Scribners Mill Church of Christ. He was an avid fisherman, sports fan and card player. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Eloise Brown Crigger of Culleoka; four daughters, Lois Carol (Billy) Andrews of Columbia, Connie (Ricky) Blackburn of Columbia, Betsy (Zack) Caperton of Santa Fe, Doris (Doug) Smith of Spring Hill; three sons, Ewell (Aleli) Crigger, Jr. of Pacifica, California, Bill (Donna) Crigger of Columbia, Robert Crigger of Columbia; thirteen grandchildren, Mary Beth and Megan Andrews, Brittany and Kari Blackburn, Joshua and Ashley Crigger, Kayla and Wesley Crigger, Preston and Amee Crigger, Miranda, Mallory and Savannah Smith; brother, Jerry (Cindy) Crigger of Columbia; two sisters, Lady (Joe) Watson of Summertown, Charlene (Harvey) Victory of Lewisburg; brothers-in-law, Doug (Janice) Brown, Virgil (Betty) White, J.W. (Nancy) Richardson, Frank Patterson, Linda Sue Crigger; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Crigger, Billy Crigger and James Crigger; one sister, Dorothy Patterson; granddaughter, Holly Nicolle Blackburn; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Ruth Brown; and sister-in-law, Doris Brown White. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Flowers, Duke Hamilton, Paul Ragsdale, Jerry Vaughn, Bobby Burch, Billy Stokes, Windell Westmoreland and James McKnight. Honorary pallbearers will be Glyn Hamilton, Don Hamilton, Bobby Bowden, William Wilson, Hubert Mash, Frank Marchand, Joe Underwood, James H. Jones, Jr., John B. Jones, James H. Jones, III, Dr. Thomas Dake, Dr. James Marshall, Dr. Erik Iversen, Dr. Jacques Heibig, Dr. John Kerr, Dr. Cary Pulliam and Staff.
