Ewell Turner Scott

Mr. Ewell Turner Scott, 87, retired rural mail carrier and resident of Mooresville Pike, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Troy Dugger officiating. Burial will be in Wilkes Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 9p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Martin Bailey Scott and Daisy Murphy Scott. On October 10, 1955 he married Ann Evelyn Cheatham who preceded him in death October 12, 2005. He was a graduate of Culleoka High School and Freed-Hardeman College and University of Tennessee. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Scott was a member of Culleoka Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Stanley (Debbie) Scott of Culleoka, Dr. Steven (Connie) Scott of Hohenwald; two daughters, Mary Bailey (Kelly) Palmer of Plano, TX, Debra Scott Lehnert of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Robert Scott of Culleoka; one sister, Daisy Martin Ralston of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Lauren Scott, Katie Lehnert, Alina Scott, Charles Lehnert, Justin Lehnert, Andrew Scott, Nathaniel Scott, Daniel Scott, Jessie Palmer, Jacob Palmer; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Lehnert, Cole Lehnert; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Charles Lehnert, Justin Lehnert, Andrew Scott, Nathaniel Scott, Daniel Scott, Jessie Palmer, Jacob Palmer, Ray Morrow, Boone Morrow and Dennis Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Culleoka Church of Christ.
