Ewing H Frakes Jr

Mr. Ewing Henry "Son" Frakes, Jr., 90, retired owner of Frakes Electric Company and resident of Rolling Fields Circle, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. James G. Hughes, Rev. Jeff Jacob and Tommy Vann officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2 - 3 p.m. in the Atrium of the church. Memorials in honor of Mr. Frakes may be made to First United Methodist Church, 222 West 7th St., Columbia, TN, 38401. The Maury County native was the son of the late Ewing Henry Frakes, Sr. and Anna Pearl Fisher Frakes. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy in the class of 1938. Mr. Frakes served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an electrical contractor and owned Frakes Electric Company in Columbia for many years. He was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 and Shriners Columbia Lodge 32. He was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marie Hackney Frakes of Columbia; daughter, Martha (Butch) Schulz of Columbia; son, Neel Frakes of Columbia; sister, Margaret Alice Frakes Lacy of Columbia; brother, Colonel James Fisher "Tut" Frakes of Greenville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Stuart (Terri) Schulz, Matt (Ann Marie) Schulz, Sally (Jason) Brown, Jason (Suzanne) Frakes; four great-grandchildren, John Schulz, Maria Schulz, Chloe Frakes, Austin Frakes; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cloa Parks and brother, Al Frakes.
