MRS. FANCHION WELLS Mrs. Fanchion King Wells, 92, former resident of Eighth Avenue in Riverside, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at Heritage Manor. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 10:30 A.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ray Newell officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. The Marshall County, Mississippi native was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Allen Doddridge King. On December 1, 1934, she married Lewis Carl Wells, who preceded her in death on November 9, 1988. A long time resident of Memphis, she was an executive secretary with Lewis Supply Company and a homemaker, as well as operating a small grocery store with her husband. She was an active member of the Whitehaven Methodist Church. When she moved to Columbia in the 1970's she became an active member of the Riverside United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Happiness Circle. She was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter, Corinne Wells of Columbia; granddaughter, Robyn Roberson (Jeramie) Graham of Columbia; grandson, Clark Roberson of Mesa, Arizona; and great-granddaughter Emily Graham of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Gibbins, and a brother Harry D. King.
