Fannie Dee Osborne Ellis, 96, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2018. A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Monday, December 17th at 11:30 A.M. Polk Memorial Gardens, 6465 Trotwood Ave, Columbia. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made at the charity of your choice. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 21, 1922 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Osborne, Sr. and the late Minnie Lou Harris Osborne. On May 20, 1979, she married John Cate Ellis who preceded her in death August 6, 1990. Although Dee was a native of Columbia, TN she had lived in Nashville since 2009. She never met a stranger and was known for her spunky spirit and youthful appearance. Dee was independent and happiest behind the wheel going to visit friends or to her favorite restaurants. Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Turner Lewter, grandson James Walter Johnson (Julia), granddaughter Jennifer Johnson Perkins (David), great grandchildren, Maggie and Turner Johnson, Will and Kate Perkins. Other loved ones include cousin Baird Harris, Connie Puryear, niece Ouida Hill, nephew Ross Osborne, and sister in-law Janice Osborne. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother William Thomas Osborne, Jr. The family would like to thank Dee’s neighbors and breakfast crew at Hardees for their friendship and community they extended to her.
