After living eighty years of, as he used to say, "heaven on earth," Felix Warner Truss, Jr. died in his home Wednesday, November 24, 2004.Felix loved his family, Tennessee, the church, bird dogs, walking horses and golf. Still living to celebrate his life are his wife, Joann Johnson Truss of Columbia; children, Caroline (Mark) Gilje of St. Louis, Missouri, Felix Johnson (Peggy) Truss of Jacksonville, Florida, William Warner (Barbara) Truss of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Ann (B.J.) Seagrist of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Mary Ann (Alex) Armstrong of Surgoinsville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brittany and Madeline Gilje; Tommy, Mary Kate, Timmy, Joe, Mike and Andy Truss; Ryan, Phillip, Anna, Claire and Amelia Truss; Pitcher, Eliza and John Seagrist. A native of Memphis, he was the son of the late Felix Warner Truss and Katherine Klinke Truss. He graduated from high school in Chattanooga and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Engineering. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. For thirty-four years, he was regional sales manager for Federal Pacific Electric Company before retiring to Columbia in 1986. A life-long Episcopalian and Episcopal layreader for fifty-three years, Mr. Truss was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Thomas Wilson officiating.
