Florence Kennamore Vinson

Mrs. Florence Kennamore Vinson, 85, long-time resident of Hilltop Drive, died Friday, April 18, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Tuscumbia, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Eules Eugene Kennamore and Estoil Jones Kennamore. She attended schools in Alabama and was a substitute teacher for a number of years at Baker Elementary School in Columbia. She was a charter member of West End Baptist Church and the Gleaner Sunday School Class and a member of Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Hughes Vinson, Jr. May 5, 1975; and daughters, Joy Elizabeth Vinson, October 15, 1992 and Sandra Kay Vinson Bright, September 13, 2006. Survivors include a son, Carl E. Vinson of Racine, Wisconsin; grandsons, Steven Vinson Bright of Columbia, Kenneth Vinson and Eric Vinson of Racine, Wisconsin; and a niece, Katherine Nettles Dorman of Stockbridge, Georgia. Men of West End Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
