Frances Elmira Butts Baker, 84, retired legal secretary and former resident of Southport Road in Culleoka, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Plato, Missouri where she had made her home with her grandson for the past few years. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Stephen Kelley officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 noon at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Thomas Butts and the late Esther Hale Butts. On February 8, 1956, she married Loy Nichols Baker, who preceded her in death November 9, 1983. For several years, Mrs. Baker was employed as legal secretary for J. Dawson Frierson, Jr. She was a former member of West Seventh Street Church of Christ and more recently had attended Main Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include sons, Jeffrey Nichols Baker and Thomas Gilbert Baker, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Jeffrey Todd (Jessica) Baker of Plato, Missouri; Jerry Dale Baker and Jennifer Lynn Baud, both of Columbia; and seven great grandchildren.
