MRS. NED CHATHAM Mrs. Frances Irwin Chatham, 82, died June 21, 2003 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Graveside services were conducted Saturday, August 2, 2003 at the Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Dr. Keith Moore, minister of the Braelinn Baptist Church in Peachtree City, Georgia, officiating. Oakes & Nichols was in charge of arrangements. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Charles Albert Irwin and Amy Williams Irwin and widow of J Ned Chatham. She earned a Master's Degree from Xavier University. Her long teaching career began at the age of 20 in a two-room schoolhouse in the Mt. Joy Community in Maury County. Having taught for 22 years in the Tennessee School System, she and her family moved to Georgetown, Ohio where she taught for another 22 years. Following her retirement from teaching, she served two terms on the Georgetown School Board and earned her Broker's License. Active in civic and community affairs, Mrs. Chatham served as Regent of the Taliaferro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include a daughter, Amy Chatham Scotton of Charleston, South Carolina and a granddaughter, Tara Leeanne Scotton of Wilmington, Delaware.
