Frances Eugenia Huckaby Wise, 92, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at her son’s residence. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor John T. White officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 2479 Culleoka Highway, Culleoka, TN 38451 or to any charitable organization in her honor. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 4, 1926 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Ulna Witherspoon Huckaby and the late Roxie Hutcherson Huckaby. On September 3, 1943, she married Williard Wise, Jr. and their 57-year marriage ended with his death on October 10, 2000. For several years she worked at Publix Manufacturing. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was an avid cook who was famous with her family and friends for extraordinary meals, cakes, and fried pie recipes. Mrs. Wise was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Danny (Sharon) Wise of Columbia; Joel (Pat) Wise of Ardmore; grandchildren, Gregory (Rachel) Wise of Memphis; Susan (Peter) Bishop of Denver, Colorado; Will Wise of Huntsville, Alabama; Amber Wise of Huntsville, Alabama; great grandchildren, Emily Wise of Memphis; Annabelle Wise of Memphis; Gregory Wise of Memphis; Jamison Wise of Memphis; Evelyn Bishop of Denver, Colorado; Magnolia Bishop of Denver, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Huckaby; Jennie Lee Baker; Christine Hood; and brothers, L.C. Huckaby; and Ulna Huckaby, Jr. Active pallbearers will be Jamie Wise, Will Wise, Kevin Hood, Frankie D. Harwell, Byron Peery, Nathan Peery, Peter Bishop, Randy Miller. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Thurman, Jerry Thurman, Tommy Foster, David Wise, Larry Barker, and Jack Auville. The family expresses appreciation to Dr. Paul Perryman, Hospice Compassus, and all her caregivers for their kindness, care, and attention throughout the years.
