Frances Howard Stanfill Brown, 83, long-time resident of Columbia, died Friday, December 14, 2007 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in the Kettle Mills Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late George Howard Stanfill and Nettie Newyear Smith Stanfill. She made her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma for twelve years and upon returning to Columbia was a sales clerk at Smith's Shoe Store and Wilma's Dress Shop. Mrs. Brown was a former member of Central Christian Church and past president of Christian Federation of Women. In recent years, she has been a member of West End Baptist Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel.Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles J. Brown; daughter, Gilda (Bobby Joe) Rhodes of Columbia; son, James Dennis (Elizabeth) Satterfield of Columbia; step-son, Charles Douglas (Janice) Brown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; sister, Anna Ruth (W. C. "Wimpy") Jones of Coumbia; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scotty) Prince, Andrea Rhodes, Clay Satterfield, Bo (Tirzah) Rhodes, and Janna Bean; great-grandchildren, Jackson Rhodes and Robert Rhodes; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by sisters, Nell (Robert) McCall, Mary (O. M.) Harris and Archie Lee (J. P.) Dawson.Pallbearers are Clay Satterfield, Bo Rhodes, Jack Stanfill, Billy Stanfill, Stanfill Farris, Kenneth Farris, and Bob McCall.Honorary pallbearers include Mr. and Mrs. Morton Damron, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Edlin, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Maxedon, Mary Ann Tidwell, Donna Johns, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cathey.
