Frances Owene Stricklin Thigpen, 88, resident of Sharon Circle, died Friday, June 10, 2016 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Judge Bobby Sands and Reverend Joe Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. For 38 years she owned and operated Rebel Grill where she was known for her famous cheese burgers. Her greatest joy in life was putting a smile on people's faces. Mrs. Thigpen was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lawrence County. Survivors include her grandchildren, Kevin (Erin) Hedrick of Columbia, Kendall Hedrick of Nashville, Kimberley Hedrick (David) Ogburn of Ashville, NC, Callie Owen Roberts of Culleoka, Shannon Daniel Owen of Columbia; great grandchildren, Elijah Hedrick, Ella Hedrick, Hattie Hedrick, Baylor Anne Hedrick, Harper Rose Hedrick, Nora Beth Hedrick, Chassi Owen, Tillie Roberts, Dannie Roberts, Scout Roberts, Charlee Cheek; son-in-law, Danny "Goober" Owen; and nieces and nephews, Victoria Wise Reed, Velvet Johnson, Jim Wise, and John Wise.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughters, Prebble Thigpen Galloway and Sheila Thigpen Owen; sister, Nadine Elizabeth Johnson; and maternal grandparents, James L. Swindle and Alice Jane Olive Swindle; paternal grandparents, William Hiram Stricklin and Adella P.
