View Funeral WebcastMrs. Frances Galloway Fly Watkins, 90, died Friday, March 6, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Terry Peery officiating. Burial will be in Glennwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 13, 1919 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Henry Fly and Fannie Galloway Fly. On July 22, 1939 she married John Beales "Walking Stick" Watkins. Their marriage spanned 53 years until his death February 17, 1992. Mrs. Watkins was a long-time, faithful member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia (George) Houser of Franklin; sons, Dan (Mary Tom) Watkins of Columbia, Doug Watkins of Franklin, and Johnny (Jan Foster) Watkins of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Kathy Yancey Watkins of Columbia; special caregivers, Pat Leach, Omie Potts, and Martha Owens; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Watkins; great-grandson, Dyllan Watkins; daughter-in-law, Daisy Watkins; sisters, Elma Lee Quirk, Addie Cole, Winnie Fly, Emma Clair Fly, and Mattie Margaret Fly; and brothers, William Robert Fly and Marvin Fly, Jr. Active pallbearers are Brandon Watkins, Roy Houser, John Houser, Terry Deason, Shane Watkins, Daryl Crain, Andrew Houser, Donnie Watkins, Steve Roberts, and Billy Inman. Honorary pallbearers include members of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church and staff of Willowbrook Hospice of Franklin.
