<View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Frances Mae Sisk Young, 79, farmer, homemaker and resident of Hill Station Rd., died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at St. Thomas Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bobby Sampson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Charles Lewis Sisk and Katie Mae Sanders Harvey Sisk. On August 27, 1944 she married Emmett Young who preceded her in death on October 15, 1981. Mrs. Young was a member of Philadelphia Church of Christ. "Nannie" was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend of many. She enjoyed her flowers, family, visits from friends and enjoyed feeding anyone who came to her home. She worked hard beside her husband for many years and enjoyed canning and making a life for her children. The last years of her life she was under the constant care of her daughter, Joyce Dodson and help from her family. Her son, Roger Young, helped with her cattle. She will be dearly missed by many. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Wayne (Linda) Young of Mt. Pleasant, Roger (Janice) Young and Randy (Terri) Young both of Columbia; four daughters, Joyce (Marshall) Dodson, Gail (Dwayne) Adams both of Columbia, Joan (Ronnie) Dugger and Glenda (Alton Cannady) Sealy both of Culleoka; one brother, Donald Sisk of Columbia; six sisters, Virginia Cates, Elaine (Olie) Thomas, Judy (Charlie) Lee, Patricia (Ronald) Luna, Lois (Joe) Kelley all of Culleoka and Linda (James) Ballanger of Columbia; 14 grandchildren, Tammy Dodson of Bon Aqua, Tina Ravallie of Columbia, Anthony Dodson of Columbia, Lisa Whitaker of Petersburg, Derick Young of Columbia, Jessica Harding of Nashville, Tonya Bell of Culleoka, Bridget Underwood of Wichita Falls, Texas, Ashley Sealy of Columbia, Joe Adam Dugger of Culleoka, Karen Tidwell of Columbia, Paula West of Nashville, Tracy Bolton of Mt. Pleasant and Melinda Buie of Mt. Pleasant; 23 great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Delores Sisk of Columbia; step-brother, Johnny Harvey; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Gary Young in 1945; two brothers, Tom Sisk, Ed Sisk; sister, Jessie Fay Sisk; and two step-brothers, Luther Harvey, Jr. and Charles Harvey. Pallbearers will be Derick Young, Anthony Dodson, Justin Schaller, Kyle Johnston, Frank Springer, Kenny Sisk, Joe Adam Dugger, Tommy Greene, Steve Johnston and Rod Whitaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Barnes, Tommy Ravallie, Pete Cannady, Rachel Underwood, David Walls, Dot Worley, Charlotte and Bill Pulley, Charlie and Sue Parrish, Charles Martin, Davin Bell, Dawson Pigg, Dr. Gibran Naddy and the staff at NHC Columbia.
