Fred A. Reed, 75, Master Carpenter and resident of Greens Mill Road, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 2, 1944 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Irvin Seay Reed and the late Ruby Green Reed. He was a proud member of the United States Navy. As a master carpenter, Mr. Reed enjoyed working and loved to see things come together. He was a member of Jones Valley Church of Christ and attended Browns Chapel Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Faye Morton Reed of Columbia; children, Sunday Renea Reed (Corky) Brown of Columbia; Shannon Louise Reed (Scott) Helgren of Spring Hill; David Jason (Lindsey) Reed of Nashville; grandchildren, Matthew (Addie) Brown of Columbia; Hayden (Jeff) Iwanciw of Smryna; Mackenzie Victory of West Virginia; Kirstin Agent of Columbia; Reed (Jake) Warf of Columbia; great grandchildren, Samantha Brown, Charlotte Brown, John Houston Brown, Kara Victory, Kyler Victory, Tavis Victory, Oliver Iwanciw, Cooper Warf, Ruby Warf; granddogs, Izzy Brown, and Arvi Reed; and brothers and sisters, Margaret Minshall of Franklin; Irvin Seay Reed, Jr. of Columbia; Sarah Mitchell of Culleoka; Donna (Ray) Foster of Wheel; Stanley (Cathy) Reed of Columbia; and Buck Reed of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Reed, Richard Reed; and sisters, Carolyn Reed, and Jane Reed. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Carroll, Clay Bates, Scott Helgren, Corky Brown, Matthew Brown, and Jake Warf. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Lovell and James Cammuse.
