Mr. Frederick M. Murphy, Jr., 54, interior architect and resident of Spring Hill died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at NHC Hillview. A funeral mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Church of St. Clare in Braintree, Massachusetts with burial to follow in Blue Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 7p.m. until 9p.m. at Mortimer N. Peck - Russell Peck Funeral Home in Braintree. The Brockton, Massachusetts native was the son of Eleanor Finch Murphy of Massachusetts and the late Frederick M. Murphy, Sr. He was a 1969 graduate of Xavierian Brothers High School and received his Associates Degree at Massasoit College and Bridgewater St. College. In 1971 he married his high school sweetheart and they settled in New Hampshire to start their family. In 1983 he moved to Palmer, Alaska where he worked for SBS in Eagle River as a kitchen and cabinet designer. He enjoyed home building projects, fishing, hiking, restoring his 1931 Model A and playing with his grandchildren. In 1999 he moved to Tennessee where he continued his interests and enjoyed E-bay. He was a member of St. Phillip's Catholic Church. Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife, Janis Wheeler Murphy of Spring Hill, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Russell Woods of Alaska; two sons, Frederick Murphy, III of Indiana and Johnathan Murphy of Alaska; four grandchildren, Erik Murphy and Emily Woods both of Alaska, Christopher Murphy and Alexandria Murphy both of Indiana; three sisters, Eleanor McCloskey and Cheryll Texeira both of Massachusetts, Lorraine Courtney of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
