Gable D.R. Campbell, Sr., 83, retired Industrial Engineer for the TVA and resident of Autumn Breeze Lane in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Lee Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 2, 1935 in Rutherford County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Grady Ruben Campbell and the late Maelean Hale Campbell. On February 14, 1988, he married Sheila Marie Mochrie Campbell who preceded him in death November 9, 2017. He was a 1954 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the University of Florida. He worked for Pan-American as an Industrial Engineer after co-opting with them through college. Mr. Campbell was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his sister, Gaynor (Bill) Perdue of Columbia; brother, Gale Campbell of Tampa, Florida; children, Gerri (Hal) Corson of Columbia, South Carolina; Gable “Guy” (Mary Beth) Campbell, Jr. of Soddy Daisy; Gray Campbell of Old Hickory; Glen (Norma) Baer of Sanford, Florida; Kimberly (Jim) Combs of Soddy Daisy; Angela (Robert) Dexter of Columbia; grandchildren, Jamie Prince of Columbia; Jasmine Barnett of Columbia; Jada Barnett of Columbia; Michael (Samantha) Adams of Albertville, Alabama; Robert Earl Dexter; Seth Dexter; Alexis Dexter; Melanie Dempsey; William Hernandez; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Genie Campbell; daughter-in-law, Tammy Campbell; and sister-in-law, Kathy Campbell. Active pallbearers will be David Perdue, Gale Campbell, Jr., Keith Campbell, Kevin Campbell, Jim Combs, and Michael Adams.
