Gail McMillion Smith

Ms. Gail McMillion Smith, 61, resident of Nashville and formerly of Columbia, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at NHC Healthcare of Lewisburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Doug Hethcoat and Kevin Maxey officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Ms. Smith was a native of Maury County and the daughter of the late Herman McMillion and Lizzie Thomason McMillion. She was employed by the McDonald's Corporation for twenty years and was an American Red Cross Bloodmobile volunteer. One of her favorite hobbies was researching family genealogy. She was a member of Mooresville Pike Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Gordon Wade Smith of Nashville, Shannon Smith of Murfreesboro; one granddaughter, Angeline Roper Smith of Nashville; one grandson, Justin Wade Smith of Nashville; a brother, Lewis (Dot) McMillion of Culleoka; special niece, Paulette (Mike) Anderson of Culleoka; special friend of 15 years, Gary White of Columbia; a cousin, Betty Rapier of Eagleville; lifetime friend, Linda Baxter Webb of Franklin; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Vandiver and Nina Nelson, one brother, Vernia McMillion, and three infant sisters. Pallbearers will be Jason Boshers, Mike Anderson, Michael Anderson, Mark Thomas, Brent Lewis and Stanley White. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Smith Family.
