Gary Wendell Lovell, 74, retired employee of General Electric and resident of Greenvale Drive, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Gwin officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Corlice D. Lovell and Lillie Estelle Walls Lovell. He was 1961 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the National Guard from 1960 through 1966. For a many years he worked in the maintenance department of Williamson Medical Center and more recently he was a greeter for Wal-Mart. Mr. Lovell was an umpire for the TSSAA and ASA for a number of years and was a member of Collegevue Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife whom he married March 15, 1963, Jo Carolyn Allen Lovell of Columbia; son, Keith (Melissa) Lovell of Spring Hill; daughter, Karen Lovell of Nashville; grandchildren, Amber Lovell and Logan Lovell both of Spring Hill; brother, Bobby (Jeanette) Lovell of Columbia; and sister, Sue Primm of Columbia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Sutton. Active pallbearers will be Larry Adkison, David Bailey, Bobby Lovell, Edwin Lovell, Wayne Lovell, Dale Lindsey, Whiz Moser, Jimmy Calhan, and Jack Coleman. Honorary pallbearers include former employees of General Electric, men of Collegevue Church of Christ, and the Columbia Central High School Class of 1961.
