MR. GARY PHILLIPS Mr. Gary Paul Phillips, 46, resident of Paragould, Arkansas and former resident of Maury County, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of Tisha Witherspoon Phillips of Cross Bridges and the late Jesse Paul Phillips. He was a graduate of Hampshire High School, Columbia State Community College and attended Memphis State University. Mr. Phillips was a former employee of Prestolite Wire in Arkansas and served as a safety supervisor. He was a member of Mountain Home Church of Christ and was a Mason. Survivors in addition to his mother are one daughter, Allison Marie (Harry) Miller of Bristol; one sister, Pam Phillips of Cross Bridges; two aunts, Lenna Hines and Glenna (Gene) Goodin both of Columbia; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Glenna Marie Phillips in 1999. Pallbearers will be Freddie Goodman, James Hershel King, Shane Petty, Harvel Witherspoon, Larry Love, J.P. Hines, Emmett Smith and Bryan Smith.Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Voss, Gene Goodin, George Jones, Jr., John Troxler, Neil Smith, Dr. James Kelley, Dr. Ben Gardner and Dr. Fonticella.
