View Funeral WebcastGary Ferguson Williams, 72, retired employee of Occidental Chemical Company, died Friday, September 16, 2016 at his residence on Skelley Road in Santa Fe. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Enoch George and John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Matthew Williams Endowment Fund at Columbia Academy, 1101 West 7th Street, Columbia, TN 38401 or Santa Fe Unit School Basketball Program, 2629 Santa Fe Pike, Santa Fe, TN 38482. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 28, 1944 in Culleoka, Tennessee, he was the son of late Leland Lafayette Williams and Lillian Ferguson Williams. He was 1962 graduate of Culleoka High School, and served in the United States Navy during Vietnam War. In 1977, Mr. Williams moved to Santa Fe, where he enjoyed farming. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his sons, Gary Lee (Tabatha) Williams of Mt. Pleasant, Jake Williams of Santa Fe; daughter, Gina Calvert of Columbia; step-son, Dean Kelley of Columbia; step-daughter, Stacey Cohenour of Columbia; sisters, Nancy Ytzen of Bartlett, Linda (Billy) Atkins of Lewisburg, Barbara (Roy) Biddy of Columbia, Sandra Greenlee of Only; grandchildren, Steven Sturgill, Cody Sturgill, Deanne Sturgill, Gavin Williams, Grayson Williams, Maggie Williams, Maddox Williams, Paxton Brooks, Braelynn Williams, Ricky Hardiman, Austyn Kelley, Eric Cohenour, Sam Cohenour, and, Alicia Cohenour; and four nieces and seven nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Franklin Williams; and brother, Leland Norris Williams. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Fox, Ryan Kelley, Paul Dugger, Josh Patterson, David Sewell, Jason Campbell, Donald Goad, and Tommy Westmoreland. Honorary pallbearers include Friends of Santa Fe, Culleoka High School Class of 1962, former employees of Occidental Chemical Company, Wendell Westmoreland, Kenny Secrest, Donald Dugger, Ronald Dugger, Pete Boatwright, and Steve Secrest.
