Gene Dillard Harmon, 60, retired Vice President of Business Affairs for O'More College of Design in Franklin, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at his residence in Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 7, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Jack White officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was a 1964 graduate of Columbia Central High School and the University of Tennessee. He served in the U. S. Army in Viet Nam and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Survivors include his mother, Eugenia Hardison Harmon of Columbia; two sisters, Carolyn (John) Cobb of Brentwood and Susan K. (James Kinsey) Harmon of Tacoma, Washington; two brothers, Dan (Joan) Harmon of Atlanta, Georgia and Tom (Peggy) Harmon of Columbia; two nieces Dana (Kelley) Hunter and Julia (Florin) Grama; great-niece and great-nephews, Lily Hunter , Lewis Hunter, Alexandru Grama, and Sebastian Grama. He was preceded in death by his father, Ulna Harmon and a nephew, Reese Harmon. Pallbearers are Ronnie Sneed, Jerry Sweeney, John Hie, David Murphy, Robert Martin, Tommy Colvert, Ronnie Huckaby, and Jody Hill.
