Mrs. Grace Geneva Waldrop Peden Brown, 91, retired department supervisor at Wal-Mart and resident of Danbury Drive, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy McNeece and Jeff Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Abigail & Jeff Scott Fund, c/o First National Bank, Lynnville, TN. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 10, 1923 in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther Waldrop and Haughty Bell Matlock Waldrop. On October 5, 1941 she married Howard Peden who preceded her in death on September 16, 1980. Her second husband Earl Brown whom she married May 14, 1983 preceded her in death on January 9, 2009. Mrs. Brown began her career at Big K in Columbia and remained in Wal-Mart's employment after their merger. A prolific quilter, she had lovingly stitched hundreds of quilts for her family, friends, and charitable contributions. She is honored with one of her beautiful quilts hanging in the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. An avid gardener, Mrs. Brown was said to "have a green thumb" and could make everything grow in her large garden every year. A great cook, she enjoyed baking and trying new recipes. She was a member of Bethel Church of Christ but had more recently been attending West Seventh Street Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Cathy (Charles) Gibson of Lynnville; sons, Tom (Paula) Peden of Houston, Texas; Bob (Florence) Peden of Nashville; granddaughters, Cayce (Jonathan) Perry of Ardmore; Cristen (Nathan) Smith of Harvest, Alabama; Barbara (Abe) Woo of Tampa, Florida; Elizabeth (Clint) Rejsek of Houston, Texas; Rebecca Peden of Nashville; eight great grandchildren; brothers, W. C. (Carolyn) Waldrop and Russell Waldrop, both of Enterprise. She was preceded in death by siblings, Jack Waldrop, Howard Waldrop, Roy Waldrop, Martin Waldrop, Nellie Thomas, Viola Atkisson, Dorothy Chapman, Brownie Tallent, and Jessie Waldrop. Active pallbearers will be Keifer Roberts, Jerry McNeece, Jeff Harris, John Harris, Carl Langford, and Matthew Langford.
