Geneva Hamlett Mrs. Geneva May Hamlett, 87, resident of Morningside Lane, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ted Burleson, Ricky Clay and Jeremy Butt officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to West 7th Street Church of Christ Building Fund, 405 West 7th St., Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Albert Cleveland May and Etta Garrett May. She was married for fifty years to Robert Evans Hamlett who preceded her in death November 17, 1996. She belonged to Columbia Academy Associates for many years and was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ where she attended the Ladies Bible Class and the Large Auditorium Class. Survivors include her daughter, Carlene (John W.) Price of Columbia; one brother, Richard (Margaret Hyatt) May of Covington, Georgia; two granddaughters, Jill Price and Robyn Price both of Columbia; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Wiley May of Columbia, Margaret Leighton May of Lawrenceburg, Joyce Ledford Hamlett Godwin of Campbellsville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, R.C. May, C.D. May, C.F. May, and Wilson May. Pallbearers will be Carl May, Al May, Bill Johnston, Jim Shelton, Gary Hamlett and Phil Hamlett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Autry, Harold Autry, Rudy Godwin, Jimmy Wilkins, Dr. Gaylon Harris and members of the Large Auditorium Class of West 7th Street Church of Christ.
