George Edward Collison, Jr. Mr. George Edward Collison, Jr., 85, retired heavy equipment salesman for the W. W. Williams Company and resident of The Bridge and Life Care Center, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital following an extended illness. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Greg Mullinicks officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 7 concluding with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The Davidson County native was the son of the late George Edward Collison, Sr., and Lillian Obenchain Collison. He was married to Dorothy Cox Collison who preceded him in death. Mr. Collison was a veteran of the United States Merchant Marine, serving during World War II in both Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He was a 32nd degree Free Mason and member of the Doric Lodge 732 in Nashville. He was a member of the Shriners Almenah Temple in Chattanooga. Mr. Collison was an avid gun collector and noted gun expert. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Collison Sciotto of Columbia; Mrs. Nancy Collison (Michael) Roberson of Newport News, Virginia; one son, George Edward (Cynthia) Collison, III of Hohenwald; seven grandchildren, Sarah Sciotto Gavigan, Jeffrey Scott Martin, John Ingle Martin, Shannon Elizabeth Martin, Jennifer Gilbreath Hillenmeyer, Julie Ann Gilbreath, and Katelyn Virginia Collison; and four great grandchildren, Justin Scott Martin, Jeffrey Aaron Martin, Greer Henley Martin, and Augusta James Gavigan. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Collison Gilbreath. The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Gardner, Maury Regional Hospital and staff for their extraordinary care and compassion.
