View Funeral Webcast George Gilbert Brazelton, CLU, 91, retired District Manager for Life Insurance Company of Georgia, died Monday, August 7, 2023 at his residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. at Graymere Church of Christ with John Vaughan and Andrew Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 25, 1932 in Huntsville, Alabama, he was the son of the late Don Henry Brazelton and the late Christabel McKnight Brazelton. He was a graduate of Huntsville High School, attended University of Alabama at Huntsville and University of Tennessee in Nashville. Mr. Brazelton obtained a Professional Designation CLU at Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania. From February 14, 1952 – February 29, 1952, he served in the United States Navy. Mr. Brazelton was a past President of the Columbia Rotary Club and past President of Columbia Life Underwriters Association. In 1964, he earned the Paul Harris Award and Rotarian of Year Award. Mr. Brazelton was a member of Graymere Church of Christ, where he was a past Elder. Survivors include his wife, whom he married, March 2, 1956, Twilla Howell Brazelton of Columbia; son, George David (Seanne) Brazelton of Evansville, Indiana; daughter, Sandra Brazelton (Tim) Osborne of Brentwood; granddaughters, Lindsey Osborne of Nashville; Leslie Osborne of Nashville; Katie Anne Brazelton (Brandon) Curl of Evansville, Indiana; grandson, Taylor Brazelton of Kirkland, Washington; and great grandchildren, Hannah Comer of Evansville, Indiana; Brynlee Comer of Evansville, Indiana. Active pallbearers will be Tim Roundtree, Dennis Roundtree, Tim Osborne, Chad Landman, Taylor Brazelton, and Bill Welch. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Webster, Frank McMeen, Mike Allen, Katherine Rogers, Sue and Edwin Lovell, Lucy and Jerry Church, past and present Elders, Deacons, and Ministers of Graymere Church of Christ.
