Mr. George William Pilkinton, 84, retired from Farmer Construction Company, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The Maury County native was the son of the late Robert Elmer Pilkinton and Lillie May Corcoran Pilkinton. He was a 1941 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Pilkinton was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sarah Davis Pilkinton; a daughter, Linda Georgette Pilkinton of Columbia; two sons, Bill (Diane) Pilkinton of Clermont, Florida and George Sheryl (Gail) Pilkinton of Pulaski; grandchildren, Michael (Robin) Pilkinton of Columbia, Kent (Charity) Pilkinton of Nashville, Mandy Pilkinton of Smyrna, Sarah Neil (Sam) Webb of Franklin and twins, Kayla and Krissy Surles of Pulaski; great-grandchildren, William Pilkinton, Grace Pilkinton, Sylvia Pilkinton, and Madeline Pilkinton; a sister, Betty Ann Hanvy of Columbia; a brother, Robert H. (Frances) Pilkinton of Rogersville, Alabama. Active pallbearers are Cecil Yarber, Bobby Pilkinton, Michael Pilkinton, John Scott Henderson, Larry Davis, Derrick Dale, and Kent Pilkinton. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Andrews' Men's Sunday School Class and Sunshine Sunday School Class at Highland Park Baptist Church.
