George William Scott

January 3, 1928 — June 19, 2007

Mr. George William Scott, 79, clerk for Randolph & Williams Company and former employee of E. B. Harrison Service Station, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at his residence on Overton Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Burial will be in Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of the Petersburg Community in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Allen Thomas Scott and Willie Mae Fowler Scott. He was a graduate of Morgan Preparatory School in Petersburg. Mr. Scott was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was active in the Central High School Band Boosters during his son Tom's participation in the band. Survivors include his wife, Robbie Pirtle Scott of Columbia; two sons, Mike (Jane) Scott of Columbia and Tom (Amelia) Scott of Columbus, Georgia; three grandchildren, Emily Jane Scott of Columbia and Erin Prielozny of Columbus, Georgia and Drew Scott of St. Pete Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hastings and a brother, Carroll Scott. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
