Mr. Gerald Lee "Derail" Demastus, 38, Store Manager at Advance Auto Parts in White House and resident of Kacie Drive in Pleasant View, died Sunday, November 14, 2004 as a result of an automobile accident in Davidson County. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3-7p.m. with a funeral service conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday at Wilkes Cemetery in the Culleoka Community. A Celebration of His Life will be held Saturday at 4:00p.m. at the American Legion Post 19, 812 Nashville Highway, Columbia, TN. He was a native of Maury County, a 1984 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University for two years. He served in the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve "Genny" Chalus Demastus of Pleasant View; mother and step-father, Jane Burgess Demastus Broadway and Gary Broadway of Columbia; brother, Robert Earl (Veronica) Demastus of Columbia; mother-in-law, Sally Sanford Chalus of Nashville; two step-sons, Alexander Rust and Drew Rust both of Pleasant View; maternal grandmother, Mamie Adams Burgess of Columbia; paternal grandmother, Mary Isabell Demastus of Culleoka; three aunts, Diane Burgess (Archie) Steen and Karen Lee Burgess both of Columbia, Debbie Burgess (Jerry) Howell of Culleoka; niece, Kailey Demastus of Columbia; and nephew, Alex Demastus of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard H. Demastus, Jr. and his grandfathers, Earl C. Burgess and Howard H. Demastus, Sr. Honorary pallbearers, "You Know Who You Are."
